There are an existing backup file name called 'F:\MSSQL7\backup\Sep2003.bak'. I am tryting add a new backup file name called 'F:\MSSQL7\backup\Oct2003.bak' and backup a Oct2003 DB in this backup file. However, I am keep getting the error message:"The volumn on device 'F:\MSSQL7\BACKUP\Sep2003.bak' is not part of a multifamily(RAID) media set. Use with FORMAT to perform a new NEW RAID set." Could someone tell me what this mean?, and how to solve this problem?Jung

How was the original backup made? What was the command that was used? What is the command that you are using to add the database to the backup file?Have you searched MS' knowledge base for information regarding your error, how about googling it? That's what we would do to answer your question.Tara

I suspect that you select something wrong inside EM. Do the work inside Query Analyzer.Tara

If you are going to use EM, click on the Sept backup and remove it. Then backup to Oct.MeanOldDBAderrickleggett@hotmail.comWhen life gives you a lemon, fire the DBA.
