Sheng writes "Dear Sir,

Mine version of SQL server is 8.00.194 (2000 Service Pack 1). I've recently downloaded SQL Service Pack 3a (as my computer was hit by W32 Slammer worm). But the computer is still running the old version. Do I need to delete the old version? How can I run the Service Pack 3a? Also, the virus is still in my computer, how can I get rid of it?

Thank you very much for your help!!

Yours,

Sheng"

The service pack should be an exe.
Run the exe and it will extract to a directory.
In the directory run the setup.bat (I think) and it will upgrade the m/c.
There is no need to delete the old service pack.

For removing see

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
