If the tables you are trying to replicate is huge,then creating snapshot takes whole amount of time and locks the table/databases so nobody can access. |

You also have option to unlock tables while creating snapshot for first time. Check sp_addpublication in BOL. |

Books Online, SQLs help file.The biggest issue you can face is that the syncronisation can time out and get stuck in a loop, but you need huge unweildy tables for that to happen in 2005. |
