Hi Everyone,
I plan to do transactional replication. The publisher/distributor is sql2005 and subscriber is sql 2000. Is that possible. Because When I setup subscriber, I keep getting "The directory service is currently unavailable" in finding sql server replications.

Thank you in advance

Yes it's possible. Are they in same domain?

unfortunately we are in different domain. We want to replicate data from another company.
some more info: Sql version
we use sql 2000 (SP1), I am not sure what version another company uses. But I think it's sql2005. Do I need to upgrade to sp3 or sp3a?

So can we setup transactional replication with updatable subscriptions from our end? or we need them to setup publisher/distributor so we can setup subscriber/distributor?

Are there particular requirements? For example, what do we need to know from them to setup?

This is the first time I setup replication in different domain.so I am not really sure it would be the same as I setup within the same domain.

Thank you

Then those domains have to be trusted.
