Hi Group:

I hope someone can help me, I am trying to upload a WebSite to www.godaddy.com using Filezilla:

Basically using the Hosting: www.godaddy.com
The user id
The password
Now there is a field for the Port. However, I donn't know the "Port". Do I need the port to connect to their server? I am getting an error connection failing.

Any help on how to upload a folder to a Hosting in a more easy way.

Thanks a lot

I have moved this thread to a better forum. The "Site Related Discussions" forum is for discussions about the SQLTeam.com site.

I also locked your second thread since it's a duplicate of this one.

ftp port is 21. However some companies change this for security reasons.

Also may i add, if you are trying to connect to the ftp site. The url should be changed to ftp.your_website.com

There are many upload software. I used to use www.leapware.com, dreamweaver, Vstudio, command prompt all do the job for you.

What's is hosting? Is it the name of the company that's is hosting my web site or is my Web Site domain. Or is the Server IP Address.

What's usually use as a Port? Is it ftp port 21 or sftp port 22 and what's the different? Thank you for your help Afrika...

Boy !!!!

Dont know where to start. But will advice you get google as your friend to get some definitions. But i will try my best to help.

Hosting: Very simple. Thats putting your website on the internet for everyone to see. Using a web address e.g. The owners of this website have their site hosted on www.sqlteam.com

Basically You have a name www.sqlteam.com
And put the files from your computer to a hosting provider's computer. One of the biggest providers is www.godaddy.com which you mentioned.

An IP address is an address system that computers use. Ie If you have your website registered with godaddy.com normally they will give you an IP address.

ftp is 21 sftp is secure ftp. The same way you have http and https

Hope this helps.

Google is your friend
