This is a curious installation problem. After removing SQL Server 2005 from a client machine and reinstalling it, the local database files and folders related to them are missing. Repeated attempts to reinstall selecting all options have not been successful. The setup program seems to think that they are already on the machine, although they are not (Yes, I searched the disk looking for instances of master.mdf, tempdb.mdf, etc. and found nothing). This installation is from an image that has worked on other computers, and I'm reasonably sure that it isn't corrupted.Does anyone have any ideas for a solution to this problem? |

| Dear Dre3,Did you rebooted machine after uninstallation of SQL 2005. It is required to reboot. Might be you may need to delete manually from binaries file location also to delete the "Microsoft SQL Server" Folder. If still is showing the same then probably you should have to delete from the registry.ManojMCP, MCTS |

| Thanks for the suggestions from everyone. The problem was apparently within the registry. After reimaging the machine the problem disappeared. |
