I am unable to find the difference in BOL!

They both look same to me, though, i am sure there is some difference. I am unable get the nuance..

Keep in mind that job notification is different from notification service. You can set alter to monitor many things in the server and notify you if passes threshold, job notification can send you job status. Notification service is a platform for developing and deploying applications that generate and send notifications to subscribers.
