| Hi. did know where to put it so...I just want to know how can i renew my data from a pivot table.I have a SP in SQL and from that i get my pivot table in excel. How would i renew the data? Do i have to make a job in SQL and if so, what will it do? Just run the SP again? Or do i have to do something with excel? Or is it done automatically when you create your pivot? Thanks. |

| What do you mean renew? If you mean get new data into cube, you have to process cube in ssms by connecting to ssas. |

| Well.Yes and no.No because i don't have a cube but only a stored procedure. Can i renew the data with from a stored procedure? Yes because i would like to create a cube to do that. Can you explain further the meaning of ssms and ssas. You mean system management and system administration? Also will the excel pivot table renew the data? If not how will i renew it's data? Thanks. |

You can make stored procedure dump the result data to a table. You can then create a SQL job which will truncate table and populate the new data in periodic manner which you can schedule. This will ensure the table is renewed (updated) with new data periodically. Once this is done, you can just make pivot table in excel to pint to this table data. Also, ssms is sql server management studio which you use to write your tsql queries and create objects & ssas is sql server analysis service which is used to buid cubes from your warehouse objects (dimensions & facts) which are nothing but tables whose data you'll analyse. To automatically renew excel pivot table try this outhttp://www.exceltip.com/st/Automatically_Refreshing_a_PivotTable_Report/738.html |

You can also use the options on advanced tab of pivot table for this.Refer this article:-http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/using/excel_pivot_tables_collins.mspx |
