Installed sql server 2005 64bit dev edition

sql management studio opens in x86 mode. It is running in 32bit mode. Why?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\SqlWb.exe"

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE\" --this folder doesn't have the link. All it has is ASInstanceRename and sqlconf.dll.

It's supposed to run in 64bit mode.

Am I missing something?

I'm running vista 64bit

Installed sp2 - management studio still runs from x86 folder. What's wrong? Is there something I have to do before installation?

I wonder if it has something with the SSMS still being 32-bit?

No didn't have 32bit installed before.

You mean SSMS is just 32bit no matter what?

If so then is 64 bit sql any faster than 32bit? Wouldn't running in native 32bit be faster than?

SSMS is client tool, nothing to do with sql engine.
