Hi all,

I have a local SQL Server 2005 and need to transfer some data to another SQL Server 2005. I need to do this on a regular basis, once a day or more.

As I've understood the most common (and only?) way to do this automatically is that you create a Integration Services project in Visual Studio, is this correct?

If so, does anyone have any guidance to give me; links, tutorials, general tips etc?
I have all the data I need, credentials for both servers, database names, tables etc, the "only" I need to know is how I should transfer the data between them.

Any help is much appreciated!

You can achieve this with transactional replication as well.

Take look at data import/export wizard. Replication maybe overkill if only need to transfer some data.

Thanks for your answers guys! And especially to you rmiao! The "Data import/export wizard" did just what I wanted. So easy to create a packet!

But now I'm unsure as what to do with the .dtsx file? I want to schedule so this job runs, let say once a day. I read somewhere that I needed to import it under Stored Packages in SQL Server 2005 but I'm unsure where this is located.
Any help is appreciated!

connect to Integration services engine of your server by means of sql server management studio. open msdb folder and right click and select export package. browse to your package and give security option as rely on server roles . you can also deploy from your visual studio project
