How do you perform those tasks on standalong servers? Do same on clustered ones.

Thanks TKizer. We have 2 cluster Nodes each consists of around 40 Databases and were doing fine.We have jobs assigned to run the backups and other relevant jobs running absolutely fine.I was custodian of these databases and asked to deliver the PLAN FOR DISASTER RECOVERY in the event if the Crash occurs, however, I dont have any other source but the backups were running and transaction Logs for every 15 minutes duration. My Question, How I need to restore and recover from the crash occured and is the source what I have indicated with existing backups and using Point In Time utilizing Logs to recover and restore;ORIs there any method I need to pick it. Since It is clustered environment, I just want to know what is the best availability method for recover and restore for a crash occured. Thanks in Advance Tara.

Restoring a database does not change on a clustered instance or on a standalone instance. You still use the RESTORE command. How you recover in your situation depends on what the issue is. There are hundreds of things that can happen, we can't cover each of these. So if you have a specific question such as a specific failure, then feel free to ask.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog

Thanks Tara for being very specific. However, the circumstances leads me otherday, I was crashed out all the databases in one of the cluster nodes. In this case, How I need to recover and restore.further, in specific nature...............What are the possibilities that I can come across apart from crashed out server node, which I am not aware of it.Ex: restore and recover process for the database from another thread of another clustered node. Thanks in advance.

You need to define "crashed out" for us. Explain exactly what scenario you are referring to. Are we talking about BSOD, corrupt databases, SQL Server is unable to start, ...?Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog

Other day, I have one database was not starting up when tried to startup is not doing so, I just recovered that database but eventually, another database(s) were subsequently crashed. This is going on for couple of times over the days.Secondly, the whole cluster node databases were crashed out but could able to recover and restore from the snapshot folder but I am not convinced that it might again do the fail.May I know now, based on the last two instances narrated is there any methodology that I can restore, recover them, and moreover, what are the PREVENTIVE steps I need to take in the Clustering Nodes. Thanks Tara

Did you find out why those incidents happened? Again, they are not cluster specific issue, can happen on any sql instance.

You need to describe your issue more clearly. We still don't have enough information for us to help. What status were the databases in? What did DBCC CHECKDB show? What was in the SQL Server Error Log? What was in the Application Log and System Log in Event Viewer?Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog

Please show us the exact errors from the error log. How could a database be active if you can't access it? What error did you get upon accessing it?Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog

The database was active prior to restoring.thereafter,The database not coming up while trying after being restored, incidentally, there is no significant message in error log as it says database failed to be in active mode.

How did you restore db? Did you get any error during restore? Is backup file good? You can check that with 'restore verifyonly'.
