I have an application which connects to a database to store and retrieve data. To use the application and connect to the sql server, the user will have to be logged onto the domain, so I want to do authentication by Windows authentication.I had someone who is authenticated on the domain attempt to use the program and the sql server returned a message that he wasnt authorized to access. I don't want to have to setup individual accounts for all users. How can I give all domain users access to the server when they use my application? Thanks,

This may be moving the problem upstream but you could create a windows group and grant sql privs to just the group. You still need to add your domain users to the windows group.Be One with the OptimizerTG

If you want to give all domain users access ,as TG suggested, create the Windows Group , you might find that there is already a Windows group which contains all the domain users. Then in your SQL Server Setup , add the Windows Group and apply the relevant access modelJack Vamvas--------------------Search IT jobs from multiple sources- http://www.ITjobfeed.com

I did as directed. Your help appreciated. I thought that using Windows Authentication it would be able to see that user was authenticated on network and so allow access. I didn't realize that I needed to tie the authenticated users to a local account and then give access to that ...Mike
