I am not a DB developer but I know there is a system stored proc that will return system info from SQL Server ( in XML ) such as server info, databases and info ( such as tables ... ) etc. I want to use this for documentation.I know the result set will probably quite large, however I am interested in the sp name. Can anyone help? Thanks

Cheers. I know there are lots, but the DBA I used to work with used 1 which gave him ALL the info at server level, the db level down to at least tables and procs in each database. Unfortunately I never asked which sp he used, but this guy was a guru.

Sorry, but this not what I am looking for. Like I say it is one proc that you will return whole server config as XML, but it is definitely not sp_help, sp_database etc. Cheers though.

Chances are he wrote his own procedure to get the information he wanted. Review your procedures and see if anything looks like what you are expecting.

Why did you repeat in different words what tfountain wrote? tfountain's post is much clearer.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog |

It's funny that you did that as you complain in other threads that other people are repeating what was already said. We all need to watch our forum etiquette.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/Subscribe to my blog
