Hi,

I have 3 instances of SQL 2005 installed as follows,

Instance 1: D:\Microsoft SQL Server named as DB01
Instance 2: D:\Microsoft SQL Server2 named as DB02
Instance 3: D:\Microsoft SQL Server3 named as DB01

They're all installed fine, the problem is I'm unable to start stopped services for the 2nd and 3rd instances. In the Services console, the location for the SQL Server service, the path to executable is "D:\Microsoft SQL Server2\MSSQL.4\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sDB02 however the actual path is D:\Microsoft SQL Server2\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe.

The 3rd instance has the same issue for each of its services, except it's path for this service is "D:\Microsoft SQL Server3\MSSQL.5\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sDB03 when the actual path is D:\Microsoft SQL Server3\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe.

I've tried to change the path within the registry but the services still won't start and give the following error:

"Could not start the SQL Server (DB02) service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The Service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You'll need to uninstall/reinstall.
