Hi!

I have a special problem with this server config:
Windows 2003 std 64 bit
SQL 2005 std 64 bit
2x Xeon 5xxx series
16 GB Ram

After one or two weeks of operation the user complain a decreasing SQL query performance. But the DB growth is less than 1% a week, so I assume that this problem is not caused by sub-optimal indices.

After the application of some security patches to the OS the server had to be rebooted. After the reboot the users observed the "original" performance. I suspect some memory flaws somewhere in the OS or in the SQL 2005 that causes the system to slow down the database performance :-(

Do you know a problem like this (which is not caused by a poorly designed db)?

42 is just an answer to thousands of possible questions.

Looks like you had a issue with Memory paging out.
