Hi All,

I am just wondering about SQL services behaviour during Cluster failover. Does these SQL services gets restarted during failover ?

If SQL services are getting restart then whats the use of having SQL cluster?

Please share your views and experiance.

Thanks

Kiran

If you are having 2 node active/passive cluster, you failover node will connect to SQL server and own resources during failover .

Right, considering I have 2 node active/passive cluster. Lets say If I have got 5 SQL Jobs running on active node and I failover from active to passive node then will these 5 running jobs be stopped or still running even after failover?

Thanks Kiran

Running jobs will stop and will need to be restarted manually after the failover.

Failover stops the SQL service (and Agent) to move it to one of the other nodes in the cluster. Once moved to another node, it starts back up (SQL Service & Agent).

Right, Thank you.

Is there any way to avoid this. I mean is there an option to keep these jobs running or restarting them auomatically after failover from the steps they were stopped during failover?

Thanks

No.

The SQL Server is shutdown and then restarted....
