Hi!

There is a bug in SQL Server 2000 SP3 thats make the following error. This started after I put a second CPU in the server and change the SQL server to do parallel execution. MS have stated that is a bug in SP3 and is solved in SP4. The problem is that, that I can't run the SP4 setup because (as you now) the setup start's the SQL server to check logon info, integrity etc. I have tried every startup option available, even with other master.mdf's, read everything I could about the problem. But I cannot find a solution to my specific problem.

Any help appreciates.
Friendly Regards,
Sonny Wadstedt

You said this is a known issue with SQL 2000, what is KB number? Hard to say what is the issue just looking at the above message abviously SQL is generating exception, only support can tell reason looking at the dump.

You didn't explain clearly why you can't run SP4.

Well, I just think I did that. I'll get exact the same error's (as abow) in the log when I try to run SP4.
As I said, the SQL Server wont start correct because of a fatal exception error following with a stack dump.
If anybody know how I can install SP4 without that the setup have to start SQL Server, tell me - and the problems solved...
