My current production environment has the following setup:Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition SP4 (only one default instance, none other major applications)RAM = 8GB, but at present only 4GB is recognized by OSI have read some pros and cons of enabling the PAE and /3GB switch, but some articles were not clear about editions of OS or SQL Server. Is it possible to use the PAE, /3GB and AWE in my environment? How can i confirgure it, if someone could provide me with details or links that explain this process in detail. |

With Windows 2003 Std edition you are bound to 4GB of physical memoryand 2 GB max for SQL Server 2000 standard Edition./3GB switch can be used to get 3GB memory. |

thanks!-- so basically the additonal 4 GB of RAM is currently of no use to the OS or any other apps, correct?-- Also can you provide some links on setting the /3GB switch. Do i need to configure AWE on SQL Server 2000? |

you can use /3GB, PAE and enable AWE. the additional is not avialable for query plans.. its just for data caching.Dinakar Nethi************************Life is short. Enjoy it.************************http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/dinakar/ |
