Hi Experts,

Hi,

We have following SQL is running on active - passive cluster environment.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2273 (Intel X86)

We have transactional replication configured on this server. Publishing DB and subscriber DB are on the same server.

We have observered that logreader.exe is using some TCP ports to listen and these ports are dynamically assigned. We have verified this by recyclinig log reader agent.

Can some let us know the range of ports used by this agent? OR how these ports are assigned internally?

Output of netstat for logreader.exe:

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State PID

TCP 52.99.21.93:1411 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 8448
TCP 52.99.21.93:1414 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 8448
TCP 52.99.21.93:1415 52.99.21.93:1433 TIME_WAIT 0
TCP 52.99.21.93:1416 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 8448

After recycling Log reader agent:

TCP 52.99.21.93:2299 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 4348
TCP 52.99.21.93:2300 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 4348
TCP 52.99.21.93:2301 52.99.21.93:1433 TIME_WAIT 0
TCP 52.99.21.93:2302 52.99.21.93:1433 TIME_WAIT 0
TCP 52.99.21.93:2303 52.99.21.93:1433 ESTABLISHED 4348
