Hi all,I would like to find out the 'make up' of a good sql server execution plan. for example the presence of Nested loops over Hash Joins, and Seeks rather than scans etc. I know that it is not as simplistic as this and I have done much reading, however, any extra help will be greatly appreciated. Also, I have a plan at the below link...http://www.itshapes.com/ep/ep1.jpgIs it possible to tell from this plan if it seems an efficient plan, if it is too big of a plan (too many logical joins) etc. Also, what should I look for in the plan that highlights overall performance. Thanks for your time and help. |

Seems like a good plan to me.But just to be sure, what is Lookup value in tooltip popup for all the "Clustered Index Seek".If the value is 1, it is a disguised bookmark lookup. E 12°55'05.63"N 56°04'39.26" |

Hi. Thanks for your help.Peso, I hover over the Clustered Index Seek and can see any title that says 'Look Up Value'. Would it be called something else? |

I think you are on the safe side then.Spend some time on Gails page and read about execution plans.Or pay 10 USD and buy the ebook from Amazon. It is well spent money. E 12°55'05.63"N 56°04'39.26" |
