Tara or other Experts,I have to setup mirroring or replication for our reporting needs? Can you please explain about the process?Which is best?We don't want any performance issues with Production Server? How can we use Database snapshots in Mirror database since it is unavailable?Help. |

You need to read up how each of these technologies work before you decide which one to choose. Mirroring is a DR strategy where as Replication is for reporting.Dinakar Nethi************************Life is short. Enjoy it.************************http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/dinakar/ |

Thanks Dinakar. Can you provide steps from hardware and Software level for Transactional Replication? I mean what should be features of replicated servers? Do we see any performance issues in production server if we do replication? What should be best approach? |

Like I said, if you are going to be implementing the solution, you need to read up books online on replication. Books on line has very detailed instructions on setting it up: ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/sqlovr9/html/43b86a20-18af-42db-a587-ae442d397b3b.htmDinakar Nethi************************Life is short.
