The version of the sal server is"Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.194 (Intel X86) Aug 6 2000 00:57:48 Copyright (c) 1988-2000 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)" which has no service pack. I relaize this when i get a difficulty of remote acces from a client machine in using an application. Fianlly, I wanna to upgrade to sp3/sp4 and download the service packs(SQL2000-KB884525-SP4-ia64-ENU,SQL2000.AS-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU,SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU,sql2ksp3) and try to install on the server, and it says" Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access teh item". However, when I ahve tried to install on the otehr server with version"Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)" the intallation goes peacefully. So is there any pre-requisite to update from nor servcie pack to sp4 or what may be the case? any help |

Do you have appropriate rights for the directory where the install file wants to unpack it's content? E 12°55'05.63"N 56°04'39.26" |

Please reapply your permissions to the folders in question. It is possible to have different permissions on individual subfolders denying you access, even if you can see the root.Check the sql server folders for your instances, and also ensure you have a temp folder setup and active. Try unpacking the sp on another machine and manually coping the installation files / installing from your desktop to skip the unpacking step. |
