Good morning,
I'm the Exchange admin for my firm so my sql knowledge is not great. With that said I was told by my sql admin that whenever Exchange is restarted/rebooted sql loses its MAPI connection forcing him to restart the sql engine.

I need to know if that is true. I did poke around on the internet and found that SQL uses an Agent service for these notifications. Wouldn't restarting that service reset MAPI connection?

Thanks in advance

Your SQL admin is nuts. We are never told when Exchange is restarted/rebooted, and yet our MAPI connection is fine.

Thanks for your response.

I tested this and after Exchange was restarted SQL could not send email anymore. I had them restart the SQL agent and still no success. Only after restarting the SQL engine did it work again.

SQL 2000
Outlook 2000

Any ideas on what could be wrong or what I can try? This is a huge deal for us.

Thanks again
