hi experts,

I still have 1 SS 2000 database. Installed Outlook 2000 on the server and configured a mailbox for MS Exchange.

SQL Server service and Agent service startup using a Domain account.

Job failure emails are not being sent to the Operator. I see that when I stop/restart the SQL Agent, this is in the logs:

Unable to start mail session (reason: Unable to logon (reason: Unable to get the default MAPI Message Store due to MAPI error 285: You do not have permission to log on); check the mail profile and/or the SQLSERVERAGENT service startup account)

I have never been able to send email from SQL Server on this server.

Thanks for any tips. John
