Hi
lately i am facing problems connecting to a remote sql server using Sql server 2000 client. The remote server is running sql 7 .The problem is only with the 2000 client(enterprise manager as well as the query analyzer) cuz if i try to connect using sql 7 client it connects within no time. Please suggest.

Are the SQL 7 and SQL 2000 clients on the same machine? If not, are there firewall issues? I would suggest you check settings in the Client Network Utility to make sure a good alias is defined. What error are you getting? I am using SQL 2000 clients with a SQL 7 server just fine.

I use 2000 Ent Man with no problems either. I connect to multiple servers, (2000 and 7.0) across different domains. What error is being returned?
