Sira writes "I installed client 2000 on my machine and lost the 7.0 console so I am confused that when I want to use the 7.0 operability/tools I won't be able to when I connect to a 7.0 database in the console. How does the database work...I mean till you upgrade it to 2000 is everything like 7.0. When I go to Programs and the 7.0 server it is the same console as when I go to 2000....Is that what I am suppose to see?"

I am pretty sure that when you upgrade your client tools, the shortcuts to the original EM, QA etc on your Start menu get replaced with pointers to the new SQL2k client tools. So even if you try clicking on the shortcuts in the SQL7 folder, you are still going to run SQL2k tools. The only exception to this is shortcut to BOL, which will still run the original SQL7 BOL.
