All,I want to install Sql Server 2005 on my laptop but it has windows vista home premium. I have windows server 2003 r2 enterpise and standard edition. I want to use this as a training server. Should I install windows server 2003? If so; which version? The only other option is to upgrade to vista ultimate which I don't have and don't want the expense. Besides; I can use window 2003 server for win server training too. Please tell me what you think.thank you |

As long as your laptop meets the hardware requirements, you can install Windows 2003 on it. I've done this on several laptops, works very nicely (better than Vista, that's for damn sure). Windows 2008 also works well. |

Vista Home does not have IIS which is needed for Reporting services which I am also learning. Win Server which ever version will install on any computer as long as it meets the physical requiresment; i.e. 1.3 mhz processor and at 1 gig ram. My laptop has a 3 mgz processor and 4 gigs of ram. I can use it to learn both Sql Server and Win Server. Just wanting to know which version to load |
