We have Databases in Production running in FUll Recovery mode, in turn will yield every 15-Minute transaction log backup and they were doing fine. In one particular database has made a huge transaction which this database is in remote and users do connect and register the transaction being stored as TLOGS for 15 Minute Duration - normal.

Our CIO did ask me to find the what would be the transaction length, which made almost 100 MB in 15 minute duration, which is very high - I knew it can be possible but this particular database which makes on average about xxx KB in every 15-Minute is maximum.

Can anyone guide me to follow steps, as to how I can decipher to the transaction of that big has made.

Thanks All.

Restore the database to a test system and use point in time recovery until you find the culprit. Or use a log reader, but they aren't free.

Have you checked if an index rebuild ran around that time? Or other database maintenance?

Thanks for that TKizer. I would do the first method of restore and surely there is no such database related maintenance task has occured since it is during the Business hours transaction only.

I wouldn't make that assumption, someone could have accidentally kicked something off.
