| I posted this in the New to SQL Server Administration forum. Apologies for the double posting, but I think, that this forum is higher traffic, and has a better chance of getting a reply. I was having trouble creating an ODBC data source. I googled for help, and found a page advising that MDAC should be installed. I downloaded from the Microsoft page here and installed. http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6C050FE3-C795-4B7D-B037-185D0506396C&displaylang=enSQL Server instantly stopped working altogether. Applications that I wrote that worked before now return an error message saying unable to connect. It might be there under a different name, one of those long numbers, but I don't know which one.I've tried system restore, hoping to rollback to before the install. It fails, due to unknown error.I tried uninstalling and re-installing SQL Server. It didn't make a difference.I've tried Component Checker. I understand this can be used to sort out MDAC problems. I get an error message telling me that CC doesn't work on Vista.Please help.I'm using SQLServer 2005 on Windows Vista Home Basic. |

MDAC Problem
