Hello everyone,

I'm considering installing 2005 Compact Edition onto my Blackberry to hopefully allow me to restart failed jobs etc.

Has anyone done this - good results?

Thanks, John

Please tell me that your database server isn't accessible via the Internet without a VPN or similar...

Tara, I'm almost certain it is NOT accessible via the Internet.

Given that, is there no way I can use my blackberry for this purpose? Wow, that was one of the reasons I begged my employer for a b'berry.

Thanks, John

My husband uses an iPhone app to VPN to his home computer, which is VPN'd into his work computer. He's been able to do many emergency production changes while I've been driving.

So you'll need some secure way to get on the network, and then you can use whatever client you need to.

Thanks , Tara. I have a VPN client on the home PC that I use to remote into my office desktop.

But I also have a 3rd party tool from Idera (part of the SQL Diagnostic Manager suite) that they claim can be used to manage SQL dataabses from a smart phone. So far have not been able to get it to connect to my database and that's probably becasue we block Internet connections.

I will keep the vpn phone app in mind. They probably have one for the blackberry.

Yeah Idera's product will only work once you have access to your work network.
