I have a 64-bit Windows 2003 Server with 8GB RAM and SQL Server Standard 2005. We have an application we built in-house that utilizes a SQL DB. The application is accessed via Terminal Services directly into the SQL DB Server(~6-10 users at any time). We've been running this application for over 6 months without any real operational issues(knocking on wood), however just in the last few days between 5PM and 6PM ET every day it completely locks up for about 5 minutes. The application locks up and I cannot access the system remotely via any method(Remote Desktop or LogMeIn). It's like it's completely unresponsive during this period of time. After about 5 minutes it just resolves itself, and the application goes on working as usual. I haven't ran any updates into the application, nor have I done any Windows updates lately. And I do not reboot the server at any set time each day, so it's not like it happens after a specific time of using the application. But it is always between 5-6PM ET. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this? It's a server I host out, so I can't go to the physical server to see if it shows anything, and I cannot remotely access it for this time period. I'm kind of at a loss on what the resolve would be. Side note, nothing in the Event Viewer at all indicating any issues with the system during the time it is locked up.TIABrian Mosher |

Ah, I knew I left something out. The only job on the whole server that runs during this time that I can see is my AV is set to check for updates at 5PM. I'm going to switch that to later in the evening to see if it makes a difference, but based on the fact that sometimes the lockup occurs at 5:20PM, and other times at 5:55PM, etc. and it's EVERY day, I really doubt it's that. I have no SQL jobs that run, and nothing in the Scheduled Tasks that run on the server. |
