| Chris writes "I'm currently in the process of planning to get all our SQL Servers (v7.0) on the same SP (some don't have a SP, some SP1 or SP2). I was going to use SP3 as the standard but of course in the last couple of days SP4 has just come out. I'm always reluctant in general to install anything from Microsoft as soon as it released. What is your opinion on using SP3 as the standard or is your experience so far that SP4 is reliable and should be the way to go?" |

| SP4 went through a beta testing period, and any problems with it would have been found during that time, and resolved in the final release. Since the service packs are cumulative, everything that's in SP3 will also be in SP4. I would go with SP4. |
