hi,i have created a report that uses dynamic parameters but have a query.once the report is uploaded to the report server i then create linked reports into each sub folder (department) and set the defaults for the department parameter and hide from the user (stops them seeing other departments data). problem is when you run the report and they is no data for that department, a message appears on the screen"The 'department' parameter is missing a value "is there anyway of changing that message to "no data recorded" ?i don’t think the current message is very clear or helpfulthanks |

It sounds like you're not setting your parameters correctly. That message can mean you've not set a default parameter, or that you have set an invalid one. It can be invalid if in your main report you have set a drop down list of possible departments and the department you're trying to set isn't in that list. Try unhiding the parameter until you're got the problem sorted, that way you will be able to see mroe clearly what the issue is.When you get rid of that error message you can set up your report to show a more helpful message for cases when there's no data to show. You can do this in the properties of tables, matrices etc or through a text box with its visibility setting related to the number of rows.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.mannyroadend.co.uk The official unofficial website of Bury Football Club |
