| Jon writes "Hi,I am already experienced with this issue and have it working on NT workstations and SQL 7.0.My problem is with getting the DTS client to work on a Windows 98 machine running Novell 4.1 to a SQL2000 Server. The Enterprise Manager client works OK for most tasks. I can connect to databases, read tables, create and save views, even create and save packages. When I try to run a DTS package, it then errors with an 'invalid class string' message. The packages work fine on the server. None are password protected. So far I have,- Reinstalled the client- Applied the latest SQL2000 service patch (SP2)- Appplied the latest Windows 98 update- Manually unregistered and registered the dts dll's.I still can't get it to work. Any suggestions would really be appreciatedMany thanks in advance,Jon." |

| The real problem is Win98. I can't count the number of posts we've had from people experiencing problems with it. In all honesty, some things just don't work with it no matter what you do. This is especially true with SQL 2000, only the Personal Edition can work with Win98:http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/sysreqs/2000/default.aspSince you've tried every other reasonable option, the only one remaining is to upgrade the OS to Win2K or WinXP. Don't bother with WinMe, I don't think it will work. |
