Hi,

SqL Servder 2005 installed on E local drive. It is active/passive cluster. User databases are on SAN. After disaster, we will build standalone server. Network team will restore all drives with contents except C and SAN drives. We have default and named instances. My question is after network team will install windows, can we install default and named instances on E drive, where before disaster sql server was installed or it will conflict with existing files on E drive?

Thanks

You'll have conflicts if you try to use the original paths. Why would the entire E drive be restored in the case of DR? Why aren't you using mirroring or similar for DR site?

This is client requirement. They are not ready to setup standby servers (mirroring/log shipping) know. They will build new servder after disaster. I have no choice.

What else is on the E drive that they would need?

Hopefully you can just delete the SQL Server folder tree from the E drive and then start the installation.
