Hi,

What is meant by a product being made into "Advertise" mode?
Why and on what circumstances the products get into "Advertise" mode?
Recently , we observed that the SQL Server got into "Advertise" mode and we are not able any service packs on top of the product.
Eventhough we try to patch the product, it says in "Summary.txt" that it is successfully patched but it doesnt actually patch the product.
And when we see in the ERRORLOG it still shows that it is still there on the service pack.
In my case, it is SQL 2005. Is there any way we can find out a reason why and when the product has gone into "Advertise" mode?
And What would be the possible solution for this???

Thanks in Advance
