Hi guys, if I wanted to do some data manipulation in SQL Server, similar to working with data in EXCEL VBA, for example changing a text character in data, what would be the equivalent scripting language within SQL Server? Is there VBA in SQL Server?

Do you mean SSIS?

I do data manipulation via T-SQL, but SSIS is a good choice too.

Hi guys, could anyone provide me with an example import script in SSIS, just to get a sense of how the scripts work, flow control etc.? For example, say I wanted to import an Excel file and I wanted to assign column 1 to Field ABC in SQL server and change all letters "a" in that field to "x."

Please do some googling for samples. Personally, I wouldn't do the string manipulation in T-SQL. I'd use SSIS or bcp to import the file into my table and then do my data manipulation from there via T-SQL.

You might find something at http://www.sqlis.com/ though you may be better off using the import wizard and looking at what that produces

If debugging is the process of removing software bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in.
