Hey all,

Worked on a few different types of databases, but new to SQL Server and I have a couple of questions:

1. I see lots of column.name AS Alias <-- why use "AS" when it doesn't appear to be necessary?

2. The joins - I normally use: table1.column = table2.column - but in sql server I notice the format is totally different - seems more complicated. Does the manner of join (using = vs. using join on syntax) affect the query performance?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Al

1. Usually programmers preference
2. What do you mean?
table2 Left join table1 on table2.pk = table1.pk
What's wrong with that?
