fill parameter on fuction on select command

i have command like this

select a.kode, b.type from master a, gettype(a.kode) b

but i get error:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1
Incorrect syntax near '.'

i think the problem is on the parameter function.
if i use static parameter ex: '001', it work fine.

how can i solve this?

I assumed gettype is a table function ?
and you are using SQL 2005 / 2008 ?


select a.kode, b.type from master a cross apply gettype(a.kode) b
