Hello!

Our company is trying to find monitoring tool for SQL Server (version 2005 and higher). The features we are looking for are:

1. Live monitoring of Production SQL Servers;
2. Sending alerts/notifications if certain resources are bottlenecked;
3. Logging historical data and performing trend analysis (for example, compare CPU usage now vs. week ago);
4. Intuitive interface and quick learning curve;

Any advice is greatly appreciated,
Igor

We use Microsoft's SCOM, Quest's Spotlight, and Quest's Performance Analysis.

There also SQLSentry, Confio, Redgate, and Idera that offer monitoring tools (and other SQL Server tools).

I forgot to mention Glenn Berry has an excellent series on DMVs you can use for monitoring:

He updates the queries periodically (as new blog entries), and he writes about monitoring and performance tuning a lot.
