| I'm not a professional in the area but need to deal with SQL terms.Could anyone explain me the basic difference between 'request' and 'query' in SQL context? Thank you in advance! |

| Request is not a term commonly used, at least in the circles that I move around in. It sounds more like a term from Office Automation(?). Query, of course, is the generic term used for any SQL statement that seeks to get data from SQL Server. People even use it when the objective is to update the data rather than retrieve it - don't know if database purists would find that objectionable. |
