Hello,

I am a first-time SQL user (And new to this forum) trying to learn how to make several spreadsheets on Excel export their data to a table on SQL via a server. I currently am using the free 32-bit MS SQL server and the 2007 edition of Excel. I set up the linked server, but when I try to access the Excel table, I get this message:

"TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
------------------------------
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
------------------------------
The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "JULY13TEST3" reported an error. Access denied.
Cannot obtain the required interface ("IID_IDBSchemaRowset") from OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "JULY13TEST3". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 7399)"

Any help and/or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you thought about Importing from SQL Server ? I've found it to be easier . You can either interface via T-sql or you can use a Powershell framework -
