How do I take information from one table and add to another without overwriting what is already there?

example:
item.notes, item.number, and item.description from dbo.item.history

and add it to the table:
ticket.description in dbo.ticket.history (w/o overwriting what is already in ticket.description)

Thank you.

You would do an insert. Show us a data example to make this more clear, and we'll provide a more detailed answer.
