Hi Folks,
I wanted to check if someone has any functions or stored procedure that I use to encrypt and decrypt column data in SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.

I want to use stored procedures or functions or even triggers to automate the encryption and decryption process. I am planning to use symmetric encryption With Certificate.

Thanks a lot for your time and help.

Thanks,
Laura

You can use these methods in SQL 2005 and higher:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188061.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178601.aspx

They are not available in SQL Server 2000 though, you'd have to use external tools, or upgrade.

Thanks Rob. Good I can do for SQL 2005 and SQL 2008. I found this site: http://sqlserverpedia.com/blog/sql-server-bloggers/sql-server-encryption-for-express-or-standard/

If someone has come across generic SP/Functions to do this, please let me know. Thank you.

Laura
