Im trying what seems to be a simple query, but Im getting an invalid column name.

in sql server express 2008 the query is

select product_id, product_name from product where product_name like 'Microsoft%'

which will return all rows with Microsoft in the product name ie office, server etc.

I tried this using in python using pymssql using the query

"select product_name, product_id from product where product_name like 'Microsoft'"

this returns an invalid column name Microsoft error, if I try using the % wildcard syntax that also raises error

I understand I may be calling the query in the wrong order but I cant see how to solve it

Much Thanks

Check how you can pass constant values in python. it seems to be python error and has no relation to sql
