Hello,
i have a Problem with substring. I have to search in a html-code. This string is stored into a NVARCHAR(Max) variable and sometimes is greater then 5000 Bytes. Substring returns NULL or an Error if the String is to long. Is there a way to avoid this Problem? Is there a Limit with substing???

Thanks
Nicole

Not sure what you are doing, but SUBSTRING works just fine with (n)varchar(max). Is it possible you are using CHARINDEX or something to search for a particular character or string and it is not found, thereby passing an invalid paramter to the substring function?
