| Can I end SQL server 2005 process that is running on my PC in background when not required ? It's consuming 4.7MB of RAM. (I have only 256MB of RAM) and it's slowing down my PC. If I did end the 'sqlservr' process, how can I resume that process again when I require? Also, will it affect the performance in anyway ? I only require SQL server for creating database on my machine when I develop applications in DOT NET. At other times I don't need it at all. I am using XP performance edition SP3 and my PC is not connected to LAN. Thank you. |

| Open the services panel (control panel -> administrative tools -> services) and stop the SQL service. To start it again, start the service from the same place. You can set it to manual start so that it doesn't start automatically--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |
