For security reasons, I have disabled HTTP (port 80) access to Reporting Services. I have done this using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager by removing Port 80 from the Advanced properties button. SSL identities have been configured and work properly. I disabled HTTP on both the Web Service URL tab and the Report Manager URL tab.

I verified that the Web Service (https://www.myservername.com/ReportServer) and Report Manager (https://www.myservername.com/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx) are only available on HTTPS. I receive an error when connecting with HTTP as expected.

However, Report Builder 3.0 is able to connect with both HTTP and HTTPS to the server.

I am running 10.50.2769.0. CU 1 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1
