Hello...I am trying to export a SSIS package by logging into Integration Services.
I right click on the package and select Export Package
I choose to save the package to file system
the protection level does not have have option to rely on server storage etc...
Question 1: Will I be able to open this package in BIDS
Question 2: Will this have any affect on the original package
TIA for any suggestion..as I don't want to mess up the original package in production.

you will be able to open it in BIDS by adding it to project of type Integration services project. But if it has protection level of save sensitive with password/user id and if you dont have password or is not creator of package you will not be able to view sensitive information like sql login password etc
It will not have any effect on original package stored in server as you're getting just a working copy. Unless you deploy it back with any change, the original version will stay unaffected
