I have some question about SQL Server:1) When i'm used Access as back end for my application, it can packed( i mean when i installed it in another PC that it'snt have Access it can be run). so in SQL Server, it can be do same like Access?? If it's can how (explained to me step by step what should I've to do?)? or in another PC must be installed SQL server first. |

| You can use ms-access database on a PC where it is not installed only if you appropriate drivers installed using which your application connects to the access db.SQL Server needs to be installed on the system which you are going to use as a database server. |

| I'm still confuse, i mean i've case that when i'm packed my application where it's using Access as beck end, i'm selected files whom it's required by the system. If I use SQL Server as back end and VB as front end are they can be do same like i'm packed my application where it's using Access? because in SQL server i know there's DTS file etc( I mean just selecting a few files from SQL server who it's required by the system). I've ever using Sybase as beck end and it's works. so In sql server is it can? or as you told that we have to installed the SQL server software. Thanks |

VB and SQL server can work in the same way. you need to have a sql installed box which vb application can access (it need not be in same machine). you'll add connection configuration in the machine with VB app and through it you connect to sql server created db------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/ |

| excuse me Mr/Miss/Mrs. visakh16, I think you're not get my point yet. I already made application client server using VB as front end and SQL Server 2000 as back end and it's work, but my problem is can i packed it just like when I'm using Access as back end just selected files whom it required by the system. So when I want to installed in PC who it's not have Access can run well. My Question is can i packed my application just selected files whom it required by the system who it come from SQL Server files self? so when i' installed it in another PC who it doesn't have SQL server can be run well? If It can, please give me the way step by step. Or as Mr/Mrs/Miss Cindyaz that i've to installed SQL Server software first in new PC. Thanks |

| Ok. I got the point. If you want to embed it in application and if you've have only light weight queries, use SQL Server Compacthttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/920700------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SQL Server MVPhttp://visakhm.blogspot.com/ |
